Email hosting
Our web hosting plans are very flexible and work in combination with any of the email services mentioned below. In fact, you can even mix Standard, Advanced and Microsoft Exchange mailboxes on the same domain.
Standard Mailboxes
All email and web hosting plans include Standard POP3 mailboxes, enabling you to create personalised email addresses using your domain name. Each mailbox includes:
- A generous 50MB of storage space
- Professional webmail, send and receive email using any web browser
- Access to email through standard software including Outlook and Thunderbird
- Individual mailbox control panel for easy maintenance
- A message count limit of 500.
Advanced Mailboxes
Advanced mailboxes combine all the features you would expect from business class email. Each mailbox includes:
- A huge 1GB of storage space
- Professional webmail, send and receive email using any web browser
- Access to email through standard software including Outlook and Thunderbird
- Individual mailbox control panel for easy maintenance
- Virus scanning
- Spam filtering
- Roaming SMTP - use our Outgoing Mail Server with any broadband provider
- A message count limit of 5000.
Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes
For the ultimate email experience, we recommend Microsoft Exchange mailboxes. Without the cost and administration hassles of running your own server in house, we can provide the benefits of Microsoft Exchange. Hosted on our servers, each mailbox includes:
- A massive 2GB of storage space
- Virus scanning
- Spam filtering
- Individual mailbox control panel for easy maintenance
- Free Microsoft Outlook software
- Outlook Mobile Access using compatible mobile devices
- Real-time Exchange 'Push' mobile access using compatible mobile devices
- Public folders, create as many as you need
- Outlook Web Access using any web browser:
- Shared calendars and tasks, make and check appointments with colleagues
- Shared address books, with automatically populated global address lists
Exchange mailboxes can be added to any web hosting plan. You can even keep your existing web hosting with another supplier and simply transfer your email services by updating your MX records.
Mailbox Control Panels
Customers with Standard and Advanced mailboxes can manage their email settings through their Control Panel.
Your CP enables you to:
- Change your mailbox password
- Upgrade from 20MB to 50MB storage
- Delete old or large emails
- Configure email forwarding
- Set up auto-responders (out of office replies)
- Modify Spam filter settings (Advanced mailboxes only)
Your Control Panel enables you to make changes to your mailbox without having to contact us.
Roaming SMTP (Outgoing Mail Server)
Roaming SMTP gives you the freedom to send email through any broadband provider, which is ideal for laptop users on the move. Roaming SMTP enables you to send email from your computer or laptop whether you're at home, in the office, or on holiday, without having to change any settings. Roaming SMTP is ideal for business users that need to be mobile.
Virus scanning
We always recommend our customers install virus scanning software on their computers. However, we can provide an additional line of defence and prevent harmful emails from reaching your computer. Viruses are intercepted in real-time, following heuristic scanning of all inbound and outbound email.
Spam filtering
Multi-level, Bayesian spam filtering can trap unwanted and unsolicited emails before they reach your computer. Each email is checked against a set of criteria and depending on your chosen filter strength, is determined to be spam or legitimate email. You can even choose whether the filter adds 'SPAM' to the beginning of suspect emails subject lines, or deletes the email entirely.
IMAP support
We offer IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) support for all Standard and Advanced mailboxes at no extra cost. IMAP provides significantly more flexibility over POP3. Enabling you to:
- Create personal folders to store and organise email
- Access the same mailbox from more than one computer
- Access the same mailbox simultaneously, with more than one person.
